What can I do to help protect the Saluda River?

ü  Engage! Watch for Action Alerts on important issues affecting water quality and our watershed and TAKE ACTION!

ü  Support Save Our Saluda and other local environmental oganizations.

ü  Become a certified stream monitor and adopt a stream through the South Carolina Adopt-A-Stream program.

ü  Plant a riparian buffer along a stream or river using native plants.

ü  Plant native trees on your land or volunteer with Trees Upstate to plant trees.

ü  Stabilize eroding streambanks.

ü  Stabilize eroding driveways and ditches.

ü  Create a rain garden. Learn more through the Carolina Rain Garden Initiative.

ü  Manage your yard wisely by taking these low cost and low maintenance yard actions and reduce lawn area and mowing.

ü  Learn how to best manage your pond HERE and HERE. Become a Master Pond Manager.

ü  Do not use storm drains, streams, or rivers for disposal of yard wastes, soaps, or other chemicals. Only rain down the drain! Learn about illicit discharges and how to report them.
